An informal network of women in Sheffield met regularly from 1977 as the Jobshare Group. The first paid worker of the Jobshare Project was appointed in 1979.
The women had met at a conference about the problems faced by women trying to combine paid work with caring for their children.
In 1979, a grant from the EOC funded Adrienne Boyle as their first paid worker, to write guides on jobsharing for employees, unions and employers.
