Ministerial Advisory Committee on Worklife Balance

Set up to advise what should be done to promote awareness and take-up of “sensible” practices that help employees to balance their work and the rest of their lives.

To complement the work of Employers for Work-Life Balance, the Government set up a Ministerial Advisory Committee on Work-Life Balance, chaired by the Minister for Employment and Equal  Opportunities Margaret Hodge MP.

Members included Shirley Conran, New Ways to Work’s Pam Walton, Lloyds TSB’s Fiona Cannon, and British Chambers of Commerce’s Stephen Alambritas.

“I intentionally kept it [the Advisory Committee] small, so it can be a good working committee that can genuinely brainstorm new ideas in this new area of public policy.”  Margaret Hodge MP, Minister Education and Employment, Westminster Hall Debate March 2000
